Dental Implants

Rebuild Your Smile with Dental Implants

For the right candidates, dental implants are the most advanced tooth replacement system available. A dental implant is a small titanium post that, once embedded into the jaw bone, creates the ultimate base for all types of restorations. Dr. Tejash Patel is a skilled implant dentist who can both place and restore your implants in one office. Dental Plus Clinic has four locations in San Antonio, Beeville, Seguin, Converse, New Braunfels, and Katy, TX, for convenient dental care near you. Whether you need to replace a single tooth with a dental crown or all of your teeth with implant-supported dentures, we can restore your smile.

Dental Implants Provide Excellent Benefits

Dental implants offer many valuable benefits. Once in place, the titanium posts act as artificial tooth roots, providing incredible support for all types of restorations. This means that you can eat foods such as fresh fruit and rare steak without having to worry that your restorations will shift out of place. Like natural tooth roots, implants stimulate the jawbone and prevent the atrophy that follows tooth loss. Other tooth replacement methods cannot provide this benefit. When properly placed and cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Explore Your Candidacy

Many patients missing one or more teeth qualify for dental implants. Candidates should be in good oral health and able to safely undergo surgery. You also need sufficient bone tissue in your jaw. If you have waited to address a missing tooth, you may require a bone graft to create a proper foundation.

Our team can provide continued care to keep your implants healthy and help ensure that your results last a lifetime.

The best way to find out if implants are right for you is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Patel. During the consultation, he will perform a comprehensive examination of your jaw, gums, and remaining teeth. We will also take x-rays and scans of the supporting structures of your teeth using our cone beam CT scanner. Based on your scans, Dr. Patel can recommend preliminary procedures to improve your candidacy and design a personalized treatment plan to restore your smile.

Placing Your Implants

During your implant placement procedure, Dr. Patel will make small incisions in your gums and embed the implant posts into the jaw bone. During a traditional implant procedure, Dr. Patel will then place a temporary restoration that will complete your smile as the implant fuses to the bone tissue over the next several months.

The Recovery Process

For most patients, it takes three to six months for implants to fuse with the surrounding tissue. About 24 hours after your implant placement, we will call you to ask how everything is going. A week after your procedure, you will return to our office for a follow-up so Dr. Patel can check your progress. We will then provide monthly checkups to determine when it is safe to place your permanent restoration.

Final Steps

Once your jaw is fully healed, Dr. Patel can replace your temporary restoration with a permanent crown, bridge, or denture to fully restore your smile. Our team at Dental Plus Clinic can provide ongoing care to help you experience the best possible benefits of dental implants.
